Fully Equipped Research And Development Centres

Most of BITS research projects are based in in-house applied R&D Centres. We focus on developing advanced technology solutions to address problems for various sectors and overall human betterment.

The Centre for Material Science & Technology focuses on studying and developing materials like metals, ceramics, and polymers to create better and smarter products. It uses advanced tools to understand the properties of materials and designs new materials for industries such as electronics, healthcare, and energy. The Centre offers well-equipped labs, expert guidance, and training programs for students, researchers, and industry professionals. The Anuradha and Prashanth Palakurthi Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (APPCAIR) focuses on advancing AI technologies through research, innovation, and collaboration. The Centre works on areas like machine learning, computer vision, data science, and robotics. It provides state-of-the-art computing facilities, expert guidance, and training programs to students, researchers, and industry partners. APPCAIR aims to create AI solutions that can address real-world challenges and contribute to technological progress in various sectors.

The Centre for Research on Educational Innovation & Institutional Development (CREIID) works to improve education through research and innovation. It focuses on developing new teaching methods, supporting schools and colleges to grow, and helping create better education policies. The Centre provides resources, training, and guidance to educators and institutions. It also organizes workshops and seminars to share ideas and promote quality education. The Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) is set up to improve the quality of education by helping teachers become better at teaching. The Centre for Renewable Energy and Environment Development at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus, functions as an umbrella agency aimed at promoting sustainable energy practices and environmental protection. It focuses on developing innovative solutions in renewable energy and collaborates with leading organizations for advanced R&D, education, and policy implementation.

The Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIS) at BITS Pilani is a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at developing advanced robotic systems with enhanced intelligence and adaptability. The centre emphasizes indigenous research and innovation to enhance India’s competitiveness in robotics and automation through collaborative, student-led projects and real-world simulations.

The Embedded Controller Application Centre at BITS Pilani has been established in collaboration with MOTOROLA INDIA LTD., with the aim of imparting in-depth understanding of embedded controller architectures and application systems. It supports industrial and sponsored projects, student research initiatives, and curriculum enhancement through modular course development and training programs.

The “Other Specialized Laboratories” at BITS Pilani have been established to advance specialized research and academic initiatives in distinct technological and scientific domains. These laboratories complement the major research centers at the institute and provide targeted facilities for innovation and practical learning in fields like fiber optics, process control, and manufacturing systems.

The Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) at BITS Pilani is a premier hub for high-end research instrumentation, offering advanced analytical resources to support interdisciplinary research and education. It comprises two core units: the Sophisticated Instrument Facility (SIF) and the Central Analytical Laboratory (CAL). These facilities serve both internal and external users and play a critical role in facilitating scientific investigation and innovation across a wide spectrum of disciplines.
