The Management Department of BITS Pilani boasts a rich history, dating back to its inception in 1971. The department initially introduced a two-year MBA program aimed at providing students with foundational managerial skills. It did, however, introduce a pioneering integrated Master of Management Studies (MMS) program in 1973 that combined engineering and management studies uniquely. This pioneering initiative was based on creating professionals who would be able to span the divide between technical proficiency and managerial know-how. The merged MMS program functioned effectively for more than three decades, establishing a solid foundation for the departmental academic culture and brand.
With changing industry demands, the department felt it necessary to alter its programs to remain current and vision-based. To meet this need, the MBA program was revived in 2006 with a new and updated curriculum. This revamped MBA emphasized giving students a firm foundation in business basics, leadership, and strategic thinking, as well as infusing new business practices and technologies. The restoration of the MBA program enabled the department to serve a wider range of students looking for management education with relevance to the current times.
In sync with the dynamic changes in the business world and the escalating value of data-driven decision-making, the department introduced a specialized MBA program in Business Analytics during the 2021-22 academic year.
