Faculty Affairs Division

  • The Faculty Affairs Division (FAD) with its office in K K Birla Goa Campus is responsible for the implementation of all Institutional policies related to the faculty of BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus.
  • It coordinates all activities related to recruitment, promotions, compensation and benefits, re-appointments and re-designations, extensions and superannuation, industry immersion and university exposure abroad, policies related to career growth and related guidelines, health and family welfare, housing, performance appraisals and rewards, etc.

Greetings!

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science(BITS) Pilani, founded in 1964, is an all-India Institute for Higher Education and Research which is committed to generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge, and to working with others to bring this knowledge to bear on the world's great challenges. BITS Pilani, which became an Institute of Eminence in 2018, is committed to pushing its Teaching and Research to a new heights of Excellence. It is striving to attract exceptionally bright research individuals as its faculty members.

The faculty members find BITS Pilani a unique place to hone their Teaching and Research Excellence to the highest level. The Faculty Affairs Division in BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, which works in close coordination with other Academic Divisions and 10 Departments of the Institute, does provide the necessary support system that enables the faculty members to give their best in Teaching and Research and make a significant impact on the Institute's building. On May 17, 2022, I took charge as the Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs Division of BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus. We set our vision on the four themes : Teaching, Research, Outreach, and strategic planning, to support our faculty colleagues, and help in building the future of BITS Pilani University.

Roles / Responsibilities

The Faculty Affairs Division (FAD) at the K K Birla Goa Campus of BITS Pilani has the mandate of executing all institutional policies related to faculty members. It is the main unit that oversees many aspects of a faculty member's career, from recruitment to retirement.

FAD oversees all activities of the faculty, such as hiring and recruitment, promotions, compensation and benefits, re-appointments, re-designations, extensions, and superannuation. It also provides industry immersion, overseas university teaching/research opportunities, and career development/growth policies.

The division is also primarily responsible for sustaining faculty health, housing, family well-being, and family well-being. It also monitors performance evaluation, appraisals, and rewards through awards and incentives. FAD collaborates closely with academic divisions and departments to ensure that faculty are supported to excel in teaching, research, outreach, and strategic initiatives.

The division also participates in planning and implementing programs such as faculty orientation and recruitment campaigns. It invites applications from foreign nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Indian nationals for on-campus and off-campus faculty roles. The division consolidates BITS Pilani's vision of academic excellence by inviting industry experts to assume academic positions through the Professor of Practice initiative.
