Department Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Department educates the Engineers of tomorrow by integrating class room theory and practical hands-on projects. It emphasizes on the process of learning and critical thinking and promotes professional relationships among the university and industry. Mechanical Engineering is the broadest of the engineering professions. Mechanical Engineers learn to solve Engineering Problems in Design, Optimization, Manufacturing, Thermo-fluids and Engineering Management. Students get many opportunities to by apply taught materials in specialized areas of Robotics & Automation, Mechatronics, Energy Conversion and Energy Management, Materials, 3D Printing, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Aeronautics. Training is provided in Software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, ANSY, MSC ADAMS, AUTOMATION STUDIO, DIGIMAT, ESPIRIT, RICARDO, DFX and MATLAB.
Opportunities are available to the students to serve as the members of professional bodies such as Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers.
(ASHRAE) & BITS Aerospace Society (BAEROS). The research currently undertaken by this department through consultancy is in the areas of Robotics, Energy Management and Material Testing through well-equipped laboratories.
